This Wednesday evening, please join us at NOMA when we get our first chance to see a brand new, one of a kind documentary honoring two of our favorite 20th century NOLA muses.  Filmmaker Marci Darling tells the story through the lens of her own background as a burlesque dancer, so intrigued by the photos and elusive story of Flora and Piroska Gellert (and their alter-egos, Nita & Zita) that she ended up falling in love with New Orleans and eventually moved here.  She has spent countless hours researching her subjects and interviewing informative locals (including Lisa D'Amour and our own Kathy Randels), and we are excited to see the results!  And to top things off, it's the 95th birthday of Nita & Zita’s biggest fan and longtime ArtSpot supporter, Elliott Raisen.

And on Thursday, April 25, please join us for an amazing Earth Week panel at Loyola University, curated by Dr. Anne Daniel: ENVA Roundtable At the Intersection of Art, Faith and Activism.  (One note: Shamell Lavigne will replace her mother Sharon on the panel.)

In these awful times of war and famine in Palestine and Ukraine, for whose people we pray daily, and the continuing rise of fascism in our own state and country, we are grateful for the chance to celebrate some positive things in our midst!

GiveNOLA Day 2024 is coming up on May 7 this year, right after the second weekend of Jazz Fest!  Once again, we'll ask for your help making sure at least one donation is made during each of the twenty-four hours of GiveNOLA Day (you can even sign up for a time-slot right now if you're that ready!).  As always, we look forward to and deeply appreciate your support of ArtSpot and all of the other participating organizations on this city-wide day of giving!
