and the Dancing Dwarf

Perception is everything. For audience, for performers and even for gods…

Venus Vulcan Mars is a Rashomon-like retelling of the mythological love triangle between Venus, her husband Vulcan, and Mars, her lover. Each god gets a chance to tell his/her version of the story! Kathy Randels plays Venus, J Hammons is Vulcan, and special guest artist Joseph Meissner is Mars. Sources include stories from Greek and Roman mythology, and poetry by New Orleans poet Andy Young, and members of Moving Humans Performance Group.

Incorporating narrative, surreal characters and fantastic scenarios, The Dancing Dwarf is a staging of the Haruki Murakami short story of the same name. The dancing dwarf and the beautiful woman from Section 8 entice the elephant factory worker with the ultimate question. It's Rumplestiltskin in recently-made-red Russia. The two pieces are woven together with set and objects by Jeff Becker and original music composed and performed by Sean LaRocca.
